We The People

Artist: Mark Kellett

Location: Entrance near end of Chalkpit Road, Paulsgrove

All three days, 5pm-9pm

“We the people” is a project of reflection and awareness of our surroundings. Working with the local community I plan to transcend individual characters into highly visual beings and collectively transform a space into another world like experience.

Artist Bio:

Mark Kellett completed his Fine Art degree at Winchester School of Art, after a school teacher noticed his talent and creativity, and encouraged him to pursue a career within the art industry.Since completing his degree, Mark has continued to create his own work, painting regularly, taking on commissions, and exhibiting locally.

Mark’s talent did not go unrecognised, and over the years he has been commissioned regularly, including high profile customers such as The Royal Navy, and was even appointed the official artist of Portsmouth Football Club.

After years of commissions, and taking a break to start a family, Mark has decided that now is the time to focus on producing and selling his own work.

“I prefer to paint for myself and what speaks to me, than painting what someone else wants me to paint. I feel like taking a break from commissions has really developed my own style of painting, finally focusing on what inspires me as an artist. I take inspiration from the world around me, mainly music, mixing the real with the surreal and adding eye catching patterns. I think of it as being organised chaos – abstract, geometric, psychedelic and random!”

Alongside running Mark Kellett Art, Mark is a lecturer at HSDC College, hoping to encourage other up and coming artists, as his teacher encouraged him.
