Light Embrace

Artist: Jeannie Driver

Location: St Mary's Churchyard

All three days, 5pm - 9pm

Step into the captivating world of Light Embrace, an immersive light sculpture that blurs the boundaries between art and experience. Comprising fifty-two 360-degree LED light tubes arranged in rhythmic geometric patterns, this sculpture transforms a simple space into a harmonious realm of light and form.

Designed to engage and mesmerise, Light Embrace is more than a visual spectacle—it’s an invitation to step inside and be enveloped in a glowing embrace. Whether viewed from afar or explored up close, the piece evokes a deep connection with its surrounding environment, celebrating the human experience of shared spaces and the joy of collective wonder.

At the heart of Light Embrace is the transformation of lines into beams of animated light. Geometric shapes form spatial volumes that interact with the human body, creating an ever-shifting dialogue between structure and illumination. As you move within its glow, the piece becomes a framework for ephemeral light sequences, captivating both the eye and the imagination.

Dynamic Light Animations
The light tubes, programmed to perform a series of animations, start with a rise and fall motion that accentuates the elliptical forms, turning two-dimensional lines into a dynamic three-dimensional experience. These sequences then evolve into vibrant colour displays, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the shifting hues and light rhythms.

The installation team will be on-site to alter light sequences upon request, offering a truly interactive experience for all attendees.

The Artist’s Vision
Light Embrace continues artist Jeannie’s exploration of formal elements like circles and ellipses, central to her previous work. This time, light is the medium, breathing life into geometric lines and inviting viewers to discover the beauty of simplicity and symmetry, reimagined in a luminous context.
