Curtis Hylton’s commission on Angmering House for We Shine is homage to the seafront city’s flora and fauna, and showcases his astonishing ability to hand render light, shadow and detail on such a large scale.
Inspired by Portsmouth’s bird life, Hylton’s ‘Pompey Pelican’ mural is also a reference to the artist’s time spent as a student in the city. Knowing that the lower half of a Pelican’s bill can hold up to 3 gallons of water (2 to 3 times more than can be held in its stomach) – it reminds him of his time here as a student, and the desire to drink in all the experiences the city has to offer.
Curtis Hylton is a muralist based in the UK, skilled in the art of creating large scale murals using spray paint with his trademark work incorporating a fusion of nature with bird life can be seen across the UK, Europe and further afield internationally.
