Wilderness of Waves is a layered moving image work projected onto the side of the Community Centre in Victoria Park. The horizon line and waves of Southsea beach form the backdrop to a free-floating Hand of Fatima, that warns off evil with each of its rotations, and emanates the wish of peaceful passage for those in need.
The audio recites The Long Trip by Langston Hughes. The hand, cast from the artists young daughter, holds photographs of eyes – sourced from the local community. Speaking of social responsibility and the need for collective care.
