The many faces of Sherlock Holmes reimagined a thousand times over 137 years into an incredible lightshow!
Taking inspiration from Portsmouth’s Conan Doyle Collection, The Detectives and visual artist artist William Lindley have co-produced this beautiful and inspiring light installation for all to enjoy!
The Detectives volunteer at the Conan Doyle Collection weekly, some are joining from Inter Activ or are past volunteers, coming back to get involved and share their skills!
William Lindley – Artist
William Lindley is a visual artist whose work, while rooted in drawing, encompasses intaglio printmaking, projection, painting, photography, animation, sound and installation, interweaving traditional techniques with contemporary processes. He has a background in architecture, regeneration, heritage and research.
Collaborations include projects with artist collective Fourthland in London, artist Elaine Fisher in Cheltenham, and pianist John Reid as part of the Aurora Orchestra Lock-In concert series at Kings Place.
As an artist Lindley has been commissioned to create installations for a range of settings including Newark Park, The Wilson Gallery, St Botolph’s Boston, Spilsby Light Night, The Crypt Gallery, Milton Keynes Gallery, The Master Shipwrights House, Bolsover Castle, Horncastle Red Lion Theatre, Cogglesford Mill, Hackney Gallery and Llanthony Secunda Priory. His work has been exhibited at the Mall Galleries, Hundred Years Gallery, Parallax Art Fair, Tent London, Tower Bridge, and Kulturgatan, Sweden.
He has been artist in residence at Meantime Project-Space in Gloucestershire and The Crypt Gallery in London. He has been awarded several prizes, including The Open West Curators Award, and the Curat10n Progressive Art Prize.
